Hello friends! You all have been asking lately my trick to becoming an early morning person and how it's completely changed my life and routine, so I present to you the ultimate guide to how you can become a member of this super secret club too. Okay, it's not super secret. I became a member of the 5am club earlier this year in February, 2018 (February 25th to be exact). This decision was by far one of the best business decisions I have ever made in my life! I am more productive, I am more powerful, and I have more confidence in my work. Not to mention, I feel more energized, organized, healthy, and now have the time to get shit done. By the time it's 9am I am usually already done my work out, my emails, goal planning and my affirmations.
Okay, let's talk about self-care. I know, I know, a buzz word that we're hearing everywhere these days. We're constantly being reminded how important self-care is, but how many of us are actually practicing it? I know I'm guilty for not taking enough care of myself, and I definitely need to learn to better balance my work and life so that I don't always crash hard and feel like my life is falling apart (okay, I know I'm being dramatic, but you know what I mean!). Self-care comes in all different shapes and sizes, and really it's about finding what works best for you. Whether it's shopping, cooking, reading, bathing, doing face masks, getting a haircut, sun tanning, a glass of wine, you get it, the list goes on. It does not mean you need to turn into a hippie, light sage, drink reishi, and charge your crystals. I mean, if that's what works for you, all the power to you, but self-care is going to be different based off what you enjoy.
I know it's not a topic a lot of us, or any of us, really talk about but why not? It's important and we all do it. So lets talk about our bowel movements because they are critical to our health. This post we are going to dive deep into our digestion and bowel movements, and what we can do and eat that is plant-based to improve our digestion. The facts First off, lets get real with the facts. SOOOOO many people have issues with their digestion and bowel movements. In fact 25-45 million people in the United States alone suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and 63 million people have issues passing stool and are constipated. That's not to mention all the other issues that come with poor digestion like acid reflux.
I recently read an article over on Lee From America that inspired me to write something on a travellers worst nightmare - jet lag! I've experienced multiple times before, when hopping across different time zones, it's to be expected. However, what are some things you can do to help make it more tolerable? So when you arrive in a new and exciting destination you aren't stuck in bed? Lets talk about it... First off, what is jet lag exactly? Jet lag is a physiological condition that is caused by a disturbance in the body's circadian rhythm, which essentially is your internal clock that tells you when to be awake and when to be asleep. Usually jet lag occurs in people who have traveled across one or more time zones but can also affect people who do shift work or have an abnormal sleep pattern.
First, things first.  I know what you're thinking: "Maria, this doesn't seem like your style? You preach self love and you tell people to accept themselves the way they are".  Sure, I do! I love everything about my message and all my beliefs, but when it comes down to it, I have to listen to my followers and help them. The number one question I am asked is: "How do you stay fit and do you have any tips to natural weight loss?"  Why would I ignore my peoples requests?  Who am I to deprive YOU of some really important information?

Oh my gosh, did I really just say that? I cannot believe it as already been a whole year since this blog started.

It was a year ago that I was literally scared shitless before posting that the blog had gone live.

It was a year ago I decided to buy a laptop because I figured it would further my blogging skills.

It was just over a year ago I finally grew the balls to tell my family that I was done with accounting.

It was just over a year ago that I also grew a set to tell them I was leaving 7 years of University Education behind to pursue a dream.

So today I surface some of the questions I am asked most, and the things that I do - everyday - in order, or in hopes to continue growing as a person, but especially as FoodByMaria. Today I am putting myself on the line and telling all of you how I keep my life as balanced as possible, while life continues to throw obstacles, and personal health problems my way. I know this post will encourage all of you to continue following your dreams regardless of that struggles you are faced with on the way.
