This easy feta dip is perfect for fall with the apples and walnuts on top! Make it for Thanksgiving or your next gathering!
Oh baby there is something about a creamy, comforting dip that gets this Greek-gal going! This comforting feta dip is inspired by the fall season with the addition of sauteed apples and walnuts on top. It’s great for a fall get-together, or even for a Thanksgiving appetizer!
Why you’ll love this dip:
- Fall-Inspired: This dip combines the delicious flavors of fall with the addition of sauteed apples on top
- Delicious: The creaminess of feta, and warming apples on top, and crunch of the walnuts, it really make this dip so delicious
- Easy: This is an easy recipe but it’ll look impressive to whoever you serve this to
Ingredient Notes:
Candied Walnuts: For this recipe, I used candied walnuts from Sante Nuts. If you know me, you know I LOVE nuts as they’re such a good source of protein and Sante definitely makes good quality, delicious ones I love to add to recipes and eat on their own. The candied walnuts can be tossed on a salad, brie or other cheeses, or they seriously taste as good as candy to eat on their own.
Apples: I love to use Pink Lady apples in this recipe but don’t stress if you can’t find them. You can use any apple, but red apples will be the best.
How to make feta dip:
- In a food processor, add the feta cheese, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, lemon zest and a pinch of ground pepper and pulse until smooth and light. Alternatively you can use a hand mixer to whip these ingredients together.
- Scoop the feta into a low, medium-sized bowl and set in the fridge until ready to use.
- To prep the apples: melt butter over medium heat in a frying pan and add apples, honey and pinch chili flakes. Cook 5-6 minutes until apples have softened. Set aside to cool.
- To assemble the dip, spread feta in a thick layer in low bowl or plate. Drizzle top with sauteed apples, another drizzle of honey if desired, chopped candied walnuts and chives. Serve with warmed pita slices.
Expert Tips & FAQ:
Want to make this ahead of time? Simply make the whipped feta dip and store in the fridge. About half hour before serving, remove from the fridge and then make and top with the sauteed apples.
Serving: If you want to serve with baguette instead, follow the instructions in this recipe Hot Lemon + Garlic Oil Burrata Cheese (with crispy baguette) to make crispy baguette.
How can I make this dairy free? To make this dairy free, use your favorite vegan feta!
Storage: Store whipped feta in the fridge in a tightly sealed container for 3 – 5 days. If you are not a fan of apples, try using a Bartlett or Anjou pear.
