Why you’ll love this caprese sandwich:

  • Quick: Whip up this easy caprese sandwich in only 15-minutes
  • Sweet & Savory: The perfect combination of sweet (from the apples), and savory from the cheese and other ingredients
  • Versatile: Add any additional veggies onto this sandwich to really make it your own

Ingredient Notes:

Apples: My go-to apple is definitely Cosmic Crisp® apples. These are a cross between a Honeycrisp and Enterprise apple and they have the best consistency, crunch, sweetness, and long shelf life. They really hold their shape and are great for adding into recipes like this caprese sandwich.

Balsamic Glaze: Balsamic glaze is thicker and sweeter than your traditional balsamic vinegar. You can find it in your vinegar aisle at the grocery store or you can make your own if you’re feeling ambitious.

How to make a caprese sandwich:

  1. Drizzle olive oil or spread butter on each piece of ciabatta bread. On medium heat in a large frying pan, toast the 4 slices of bread until golden. Remove the bread from the heat and rub each slice with the garlic clove half to impart some garlic flavor. Set aside.
  2. To make one sandwich, layer 4-5 apple slices on the bottom layer of the bread, followed by 3-4 tomato slices with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Then, layer 2-3 mozzarella slices and drizzle the balsamic glaze over the cheese. Finally, finish by adding a handful of basil and top with a final piece of ciabatta bread. Repeat to make the second sandwich.
