👝 How to Store Leftovers
Use your barista blend oat milk within 3 days of making. Natural separation is normal – just shake the bottle well before use.
🤔 Common Questions
Most oat milk you buy in the store has a lot of fillers and unhealthy ingredients. They provide next to no nutritional value. When you make homemade, you can add only a few simple ingredients and feel good about what’s in your milk.
Yes! You can swap out any dairy milk for oat milk on a 1:1 basis.
For the smoothest texture, use a nut milk bag (available at health food stores or online) or fine-mesh cheesecloth. You can find cheesecloth at most grocery stores in the baking aisle, kitchen supply stores, or online.
Separation occurs because homemade oat milk lacks commercial stabilizers. To minimize separation, blend thoroughly, strain well, and give it a good shake before each use. For hot beverages, warm the milk gently and add it to the coffee slowly.
Rolled oats work best for this recipe. Steel-cut oats don’t break down as smoothly and can result in a grittier texture.
While you can freeze it, the texture may change when you thaw it. It’s best to make smaller batches and use fresh.
Don’t throw it away! Oat milk pulp can be used in many ways: add it to smoothies for extra fiber, mix it into oatmeal or overnight oats, use it in baking (such as cookies, muffins, or bread), make energy balls, or even use it as a face mask. You can also dehydrate it to make oat flour

Hi, does this froth for a true Oatmilk Barista Blend substitute?
It did for me, yes!
What does soak the cashews mean? Soak them in water? How long?
Hello Barbara, in the recipe card I mention to soak the cashew for 1-2 hours.
Sounds good but this is more of cashew milk than oat
Does this oat milk work well when frothed up like for a latte? I am looking to replace my oatly barista milk
I made this milk and it was super slimy and thick 🙁
That shouldn’t have happened. Did you make it exactly as instructed?
A good trick when making oat milk, is to add ice cubes to the water and don’t over blend as the heat releases the starches and makes it slimy same goes for pulp squeezing don’t over do it
Would also like to know if this freezes ok?
That much time for that little amount of servings just isn’t doable for a busy person. Especially with it only being ok in the fridge for 3 days. Would definitely prefer to make it in bulk.
