Peanut sauce is such a staple to have in your back pocket. Widely used in different cuisines around the world, this sauce has a variety of different uses, from adding it to salads, sandwiches/wraps, poured over vegetables, or as a dipping sauce. What I love about this peanut sauce recipe is how versatile it is. Whip up a batch and keep it in your fridge to use to add flavor to any dish. Plus, it’s super family-friendly. Everyone loves creamy peanut sauce and this one will only take 5 minutes to make.

Why you’ll love this peanut sauce recipe:

  • Quick & Easy: It’s easy to make and will only take you 5 minutes to whip up a batch. You can also keep it and use it for several dishes throughout the week.
  • Versatile: This peanut sauce is so versatile and can be used on any dish your heart desires such as salads, wraps, bowls, etc.
  • Flavor Burst: This creamy peanut sauce is flavorful and damn delicious.
  • Family-Friendly: The whole family will love this sauce as a healthy alternative to store-bought sauces.

Ingredient Notes for this Recipe for Peanut Sauce:

Peanut Butter: Peanut butter is such a versatile ingredient that I am obsessed with. I can eat it right out of the jar! This peanut sauce, it’s naturally the star ingredient and adds some nutritional benefits of its own such as protein, vitamin B-6, magnesium, zinc, and more. The key here is to look at the ingredients of your peanut butter for optimal nutritional benefits. Make sure the ingredients are simple, an easy way to do this is by looking for PB labeled as “natural” or that contains “just peanuts”.

Tamari: Tamari is one of those ingredients that most people don’t really know what it is. Essentially it is a type of soy sauce with an umami flavor that helps enhance many dishes like this sauce. The nice part of tamari is that it also has nutrients found in fermented foods.

Lime Juice: If you don’t have limes, just use rice wine vinegar in this peanut sauce recipe. They both work perfectly to lend that acidity needed in this sauce.

How to make peanut sauce:

It’s actually so easy to make the peanut sauce. So many of us take the lazy way out of making sauces and buy in-store. However, the store-bought sauces are often loaded with preservatives, sugar, sodium, and ingredients you can’t pronounce. What I love about making my own sauces is that I know exactly what is (and isn’t) going into them and you can feel less guilty about using as much (or as little) as you want!

To make this sauce, all you’ll need to do is:

Step One: Add all your ingredients into a jar and shake it all up until it’s well combined. Since the peanut butter may be a little chunky, you may need to use a fork to stir the sauce to smoothen it out.

Step Two: Set the sauce into the fridge for about 15+ minutes to let it sit and get to the perfect consistency.

Step Three: Use it on top of or within anything your heart desires!

The ingredients in this sauce make it even so flavorful. I love adding this sauce onto my Collard Summer Salad Rolls that I often whip up for lunch, or a healthy dinner.

Expert Tips + FAQ:

Combining? You can use a hand blender, a fork, or a mini blender to better combine and incorporate the ingredients.

How much Peanut Sauce should I make? I suggest doubling or tripling the recipe to have throughout the week with salad rolls, roasted veggies, and salads.

How long with the sauce last? The Peanut Sauce will last up to 1 week in a tightly sealed container in the fridge.

Where do I find Sambal Chili Paste? This is an ingredient you’ve probably overlooked at your grocery store multiple times, but you can usually find Sambal Chili Paste in the Asian or international aisle at your grocery store. It’s the same brand as siracha so you’ll usually find it not too far from that!

What to look for in good peanut butter? If you are looking for a healthier option, you’ll want to look for something with minimal ingredients, ideally just peanuts, and maybe salt. Avoid PB that has sugar or vegetable oils.

How long will this sauce last? This sauce can last for up to 1-week in a tightly sealed container or jar in your fridge.

Everybody needs this in their life!! ❤️
I made a simple, basic stir fry yesterday and it was a bit bland. So I tried to find something to improve the leftovers for tonight and stumbled upon this sauce and figured out that I had all of the ingredients at home without any high expectations… but this sauce turned my bland stir fry into an incredibly delicious meal! Woooow just wow!! I could eat this sauce every single day, it’s so good! Thank you Maria for bringing this into my life ❤️❤️❤️ I will tell all of my friends about it, because everybody needs to try this!!

I just wanted to hop on here and say thank you for all you do!! This peanut sauce is sooo delicious and versatile… I’ve used it in rice noodles, as salad dressing, & folded into soups/stews. Also, I’ve been working my way through your cookbook in quarantine and it’s been amazing!! I now regularly have your pizza dough frozen on hand and my family eats your cashew feta cream sauce for basically every meal 🙂

Maria Koutsogiannis

This makes me so happy! Thank you so much for your love and support, Kristen!
